I am a V-Fan. However, I was not fond of her because of her characters. In fact, up to now, I have not completely watched "Princess Huanzhu"(HZGG) which has been on in hundreds of TV stations for countless times. I admit HZGG is very good. (Readers, please don't throw me eggs.) When HZGG was just on and Zhao Wei became a top star, I was not impressed by her at all, even a little bit against her, considering her as another star who pleases the public with claptrap. Afterwards, Zhao Wei appeared on newspapers and magazines almost every day. Gradually, she attracted my attention. I surprised how came she could be so popular! Well, maybe you won't believe it, I truly started to pay attention on Zhao Wei was because of "Today's Argument". Friends in mainland should understand that "Today's Argument" is a CCTV-1 popular program, specific for analyzing legal cases. One day, I saw Zhao Wei in this TV program! Before that, I never saw any stars in this kind of program, because they are no matter with legal problem. That day's program discussed intellectual property rights problem related to school students with the example of Zhao Wei's refusal to act "Fortune God's Arrival". There was a scene of Zhao Wei on court. Another scene, which impressed me very much, was Zhao Wei sitting in a chair with hundreds of microphones around her. The number of microphones really shocked me. This was my first reaction. The second one was, MY! What a beautiful girl she is! Then, Zhao Wei opened her mouth, "I don't think I was wrong..." (I can't recall the details clearly now)
Then, I instantly believed that it was not her fault. Now, I recalled that should be the first time my heart was taken by her, although I did not realize it at that moment. Later, any news of Zhao Wei attracted my eyes. That was exactly the toughest time that all nation seemed to criticize and denounce her. (Forgive me of using "criticize and denounce", but I think it is the truth.) Everyday, various negative reports and malicious attacks was pulled on her, it seemed that anyone admitted he was an idiot, if he did not announce he hated Zhao Wei...
To tell you the truth, sometimes I was cheated by those negative news. But when time went by, I found most of those negative news were faked. Since then, I started to sympathize with her. One thing I have to mention is that, even in the toughest time of malicious attacks. CCTV was always supporting her. One program of " Infinite Art" selected and interviewed a group of top (or potentially top) young stars, including Zhao Wei, Zhou Xun, Zhang Ziyi, Li Yapeng, Xia Yu...(Their achievements proved CCTV's view is correct.) The program presented different answer by each star to each same topic, accidentally, they had a comparison. I did not think Zhao Wei's answer was the best, but I could tell she was very sincere. On the screen, she took the interview in a room of Beijing Film Institute. She was simply dressed, her hair naturally tied at the back. She would be very ordinary in a group of people. During that time, Zhao Wei must suffer a lot, falling from a peak of praises to a valley bottom of denouncement. But in every activities and interviews, she always said, " I am fine, I don't care about that..."
Was it true?
The wave of denouncement started fading down at last, a few months ago, I got her real answer in an interview of CCTV-8 "Simultaneous Sound of Movie and TV". When the reporter asked Zhao Wei what Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter meant to her. She answered: the school life in Beijing Film Institute was her spring. After acting in "HZGG", she suddenly became so popular that even she herself could not stand it, then the temperature dropped down to the minus, what a bitter time, every day she suffered. Now, it should be her autumn, the season for harvesting.
Reporter asked her, when you felt upset, how did you cheer yourself up?
Zhao Wei answered, "Nothing could cheer me up at that time".
At that moment, I became one of the V-Fans.
Now, everyone understands when I started to like Zhao Wei. I like her not because of her characters but herself. In her, I found a rare real her.
Yiping in "Love & Rain" which I watched a few episodes, impressed me very much. From cute "Swallow" to unbending Yiping, Zhao Wei's progress was caught by hundreds of thousands eyes. Along with everyone, I cheer for her every success, and worry for her every mistake. Of course, in all fairness, Zhao Wei's appearance is not always 100% perfect, sometimes she looks a little sloppy, but I think it is a real her, who I appreciate and like as well. And I hope her performance could be better and better. Don't disappoint us.
