Filiming for 30-episode television serial [Thank you for having loved me] is currently ongoing in the suburbs of Shanghai. The serial, which pre-production and script writing took almost 2 years to complete, is the focus of many media, especially with a star-studded cast of Zhao Wei, Qin Hailu, Tuo Chung Hua, Zhou Yiwei, and 'Top 10 directors' Fu Dong Yu. The storyline focuses on the intertwined love relationships between the 4 leading casts amidst a modern city life, where people are too engrossed in their pursuit of success and money. In the serial, Zhao Wei is involved with 3 men – a fearless youngster; a matured successful businessman, and an ideal 'husband-type' character. However, Zhao Wei commented that if she really met such men in real life, she would not choose neither of them, as it is akin to 'looking for trouble'.
Zhao Wei's 3 love relationships
Zhao Wei's role in [Thank you for having loved me] is a magazine editor Yuwei. Yuwei has a fragile inner personality which she hid behind a tough front; an innocent yet determined 27-year-old lady. In the serial, she has 3 different love relationships. "One man is younger than me; the other is a married man, and the last one is my University classmate. It's a different experience with each relationship." Zhao Wei admitted that she has never enacted a role where she has relationships with 3 different men, and this presents a challenge to her. The 3 men have different personalities – one is young and without fear for life and society; the other is matured and successful, while the last person is of 'ideal husband' type. However, Zhao Wei remarked if she is in a similar situation as Yuwei, she would not select any of the 3 men. She felt that such a relationship is both troublesome and torturing, and it would be better to be alone and carefree.
After [A Moment in Peking], Zhao Wei pairs up with Pan Hong again as mother and daughter. "I have very special feelings towards acting senior Pan Hong's daughter one more time, and I'm confident the audiences will like our collaboration."
Zhou Yiwei: Pressure working with senior Zhao Wei
The fearless youngster in Yuwei's life is Zhou Yiwei. A recent graduate from Beijing Movie School, Zhou Yiwei admitted that he feels pressure acting alongside senior Zhao Wei. He would discuss with Zhao Wei in length before acting filming, right down to the attire and hairstyles for the scenes.
Zhou Yiwei looks up to his senior Zhao Wei. "My first impression of Zhao Wei was of 'Little Swallow'. However, when I collaborate with her now, I feel that she's a very straightforward person, and her acting skills are excellent. When we are acting, she'd give me some tips and advice, so I won't feel so stressed." Zhou Yiwei has participated in previous projects like [Bright Sunshine; Beautiful Flowers] and [Stealing Love] (literally translated), and his acting skills have developed with each project. He hopes to be able to enact a 'small character' role, as he does not like flamboyant and bombastic characters.
Tuo Chung Hua: Marriage entails commitment
The second man in Yuwei's life, the married man, is enacted by Taiwanese actor Tuo Chung Hua. His character (Huo Ran) is the CEO of an IT film, successful in life and career and happily married. However, when Yuwei barges into his life and stirs up the feelings in his heart, Huo Ran became torn between his wife and Yuwei. After a struggle, Huo finally returned to his wife, choosing commitment and responsibility for his family over love. In real life, Tuo Chung Hua admits that he is happily enjoying his married and family life. "Nowadays, the divorce rate has been increasing steadily, and it is increasingly rare to see a marriage last. It is a fact that being in love is much easier than being married, as marriage entails a lot of 'give and take'. My daughter is almost 2 years old now, and I'm very satisfied with life after marriage. I hope that I am able to pass a message to the audiences through Huo Ran – that if you enter into a marriage, it entails commitment, promise and responsibility." When asked about his co-stars Zhao Wei and Qin Hailu, Tuo commented, "Zhao Wei focuses a lot on feelings, and her performances are pretty simultaneous and impromptu. Qin is more reserved, and likes to discuss about every little detail before filming. I'm familiar with both acting styles, and have no problems with it."
