The press conference for movie [Battle of Red Cliff] is attended by mega stars. Besides being interested in Tony Leung and Kaneshiro Takashi, the media were also intrigued to check how would the two beauties Lin Chiling and Zhao Wei interact with one another. It is previously reported that Lin Chiling, despite being the leading actress, has fewer lines in the movie than Zhao Wei. Although both artistes had disputed the news, the reporters discovered that both actresses kept out of each other’s way very much during the event.
The press conference was held in Beijing on 10 May. At the very beginning, Lin was asked to comment on the ‘fewer lines rumour. “In the movie, I have a sibling relationship with Zhao Wei, and I really treasure my little sister. I never considered whether my role in the movie has a lot of presence or if I have a lot of lines to talk. It’s more important that whenever I appear on screen, it’s impactful…”
Although Zhao Wei did not comment on the rumour officially during the question and answer session, she also disputed that she had more lines in the movie.
Still, despite both actresses’ claims that they did not harbour ill intentions towards one another, it was clear that they kept well of each other’s way. In addition, it was interesting to note that they wore contrasting colours to the event. Lin was attired in a Rudolph Vanlentino white gown, which we understood was a unique piece, while Zhao Wei wore sunglasses and was dressed in a black gown. It was as if they were intent on being as different from one another as possible.
As the press conference was attended by several big stars, the security screening was tightened considerably, and it felt as if we were attending the press conference of political leaders. During the press conference, the atmosphere was also tense. With so many famous artistes in this mega-scale production, it was no wonder the security were taking a serious view of the press conference.
