At a promotional event in Beijing on 12 Mar, Zhao Wei shed her girl next door look to don a sexy bare-back silver coloured gown. The reporters took the opportunity to interview Zhao Wei.

First car was Audi A6
After joining Beijing Movie Academy as a Masters student, Zhao Wei has concentrated on her studies, as well as taking on the role of [Sun Shangxiang] in epic war movie [Red Cliff]. She is seldom in the limelight, and media reports only showed her having tea and yoga lessons with her artiste-friends. After around one month of slimming sessions, Zhao Wei displayed her toned body with her sexy gown, and one can compare her with artiste Christy Chung, well-known for her sexy body curves.

Zhao Wei was surprised when we switched the topic from slimming to cars. She confessed that she had obtained her driving licence in year 2002, but she seldom drove. “I will either be acting or attending some promotional activities, and on these occasions, I’d be with my assistants and taking official transport. Sometimes when I go out with friends, my friends would be driving.” Zhao Wei clarified that her first car was a 2.8 litre Audi A6, and not some fancy convertible as previously reported by the media. “I really like this car. It’s not flashy and has very good functions. I really find that it suits me.”

“I sold all my cars”
The media had reported that Zhao Wei owns 2 Mercedes, 1 Bitauto and 1 Audi A6. And that she recently added one Porsche convertible that is worth more than RMB $3 million to her collection. It was also reported that she loves to drive the red Mercedes car to meet up with friends. Zhao Wei disputed this report, “I don’t have any more cars left. I sold all of them, as it’s a waste to just buy the cars only to leave them in the garage.”

Zhao Wei explained that although she liked cars, she does not own a single car now. “I really have no time to drive. Beside, I don’t really know the routes, so I’d spend more time to reach a destination if I drove.” When queried if not having a car would mean inconvenience to her daily life, Zhao Wei remarked optimistically, “Actually, all my friends have cars, so I can always ask them for a lift. For work engagements, I can just hop onto the official transport.”

Keeping a lookout for environmental-friendly cars
So is Zhao Wei passionate about environment-friendly cars? Zhao Wei replied positively, “I would always keep a lookout when new car models are introduced, especially those that are environment-friendly. I’m very interested in such cars, and if a need arises when I have a have a car, I’d definitely buy such a car.” Zhao Wei stressed that although people nowadays purchase more cars, their focus would always be on safety, functionality, colour, brand and price. She felt that the focus on environment is not enough, and with air pollution a serious issue in current lifestyle, prospective car owners should also take note of this point.

It is noted that Zhao Wei has been attending several activities related to charity and protecting the environment. Zhao Wei replied, “Yes, I really like such events, because I feel that it’s happier to help others than to wait for others to help me. Similarly, I feel happier to love than be loved.”
