Recently, most of the team members of the first Chinese blockbuster [Red Cliff] had appeared at Cannes film festival. During these two days, director John Woo , Tony Leung ,Zhang Fengyi, Zhao Wei, Lin Zhiling , Chang Chen, Hu Jun, Tong Dawei and little Song Jia had experienced many activities one after another, including the opening for the second official website of Sohu in Cannes,the press conference for Asian reporters about [Red Cliff],the press conference for European reporters about [Red Cliff] and [The night of Red Cliff], in order to try to attract publicity for the film.
From the opening of the official website to the press conference for Asian reporters, European reporters ,again to the night of Red Cliff, the situation of the earthquake disaster within the country had always been the most concerned topic among the team members. At the press conference for Asian reporters, the situation of the earthquake disaster had been paid even more attention than the film itself, and all the team members expressed what they had in minds about the disaster areas. Those had also been paid close attention by the medias both from home and abroad, especially the mainland actors and actresses Zhao Wei, Hu Jun, Tong Dawei and Little Song Jia felt as if they were in the same condition as the people in the disaster areas. Maybe because they’ve just came back from the front line for quake-proof, they publicized for the disaster relief on the spot, and got the hands from all the medias there.

Zhao Wei came to Cannes for the publicity with the team members of [Red Cliff], and accepted an exclusive interview on the afternoon, May 19, France time. When talked about the work for disaster relief, she expressed that the disaster relief was not a short time activity, and there is still a lot of work to do in the future. She’d like to think out more ways to help the people in the disaster areas.
“I’ve said the disaster relief couldn’t be a short time activity, we still have lots of work to do in the future.” Zhao Wei said she hoped to try her best to help the people in the disaster areas, and hoped there would be more people who had such plans. To offer help is enough, it doesn't matter whether the strength is more or less. “Now I’m in Cannes, but I still think about some new ways for help, and I hope that I am able to help more people after I return to China.”
Her good friend, Wang Fei, who had been away from the singing business, not long before Wang Fei had returned to sing songs at the charity performance held by CCTV, according to the news. Zhao Wei expressed that she stood up for Wang Fei’s choice, “ We always keep in touch by phone calls, this is a very good thing.” She also said banteringly: “I hope she could come out not only for the special accidents.” But she expressed she understood why Wang Fei chose to leave the singing business, “I think she just wants to be a good wife and mother, though we who like her don’t expect so. We expect too much of her. I think she can’t be competent for so many characters at the same time. Yet, I believe whenever it is necessary, she will come out again.”

Through this disaster, I‘ve seen all the Chinese people who are so brave and united to face the disaster. Every day, I watch TV after work. Now I‘m shooting a series in a very far mountain area. I‘ve seen so many Chinese joined the line of relief, for example, many people donated blood, that the blood bank can’t hold that all. Many people work as volunteers to help the people in the disaster areas. Finally, there are so many people that the traffic jams appear.
I think everyone tried their best to help the fellowmen who suffered. I think this isn’t a short time thing but a long time one. I don’t think that’s enough for I‘ve said something ,donated some money, have done something, there shouldn’t be a stop. I think there are lots of work for we Chinese to do in the following days. And I hope friends from all over the world could help us just like we helped others. Thank you.
