After the Huainan leg of the torch relay in the morning of the 29th, the Olympic flame came to Wuhu in the afternoon. This was the first time the hundred year old Olympic flame came to Wuhu, a city on the south bank of Yangtse River. Lit by the flame, Wuhu's image will surely become more magnificent. The first torchbearer in Wuhu was the famous film actress Zhao Wei.
As the relay began, Zhao Wei waved to the spectators.

At 3:00 PM on today, the Wuhu leg of the 2008 Olympic torch relay started off with Film & TV star Zhao Wei as the first torchbearer. The committee made minor adjustments to the route of the relay because the relay vehicles had difficulties navigating due to the overcrowding number of supporters present at the designated starting point. After the adjustment, the relay began on Huanle (literally means joy in Chinese) Avenue, where Zhao Wei ran as the first torchbearer.
Zhao Wei looked radiant in the torchbearer's uniform which was numbered #101. As she jogged in light steps, she held the torch in her right hand, and waved to the spectators and the media with her left hand. The minor adjustment to the route did not seem to have had any effects on Zhao Wei.
It was said that Zhao Wei has been busy with rehearsing plays. Though she only had an average of 3 to 4 hours of sleep a day, her bigs eyes and her trademark smile did not look tired at all as she proceeded forward alongside the Propitious Clouds torch.
