Starting from yesterday, the plays-within-a-story section of the TV series [A Woman's Epic Poem] began shooting (see image above) Zhao Wei's first play performance in a Film & TV production received praise from everyone.
On stage, with her hair worn in a bun and herself in patched clothing, Zhao Wei spoke her lines in a slower than usual speed. Her in character performance led herself to tears, speaking in a sobbing voice. In the play [Sentinels Under the Neon Lights] which was currently in progress, Zhao Wei took on the role of Tong Mama (literally meaning Tong's Mother). "It's a pity that you did not see this scene, it was truly amazing." This was the first words out of Professor Chen Yuan, a professional dramatic play teacher, when he saw the reporter. Then he found out that there was a reporter in the theater, he happily smiled, showering Zhao Wei with praises, stating that Zhao Wei's performance nailed the play. Not only did Zhao Wei's performance received praises from the professionals, she also received the affirmation of the director Xia Gang. Staff on the set reiterated it to the reporter: "(He) felt that Zhao Wei worked especially hard in performing in the plays-within-a-story section."
The compliments she received from all parties were a result of her own efforts off the stage. Since she has been filming non-stop, Zhao Wei rarely had the opportunity to rehearse the plays with the other actors ina systematic manner. Nonetheless, despite her busy schedule, ZHao Wei still took the time to learn and rehearse. Zhao Wei does not take her first play performance lightly. According to sources, after having already filmed plays such as [White-Haired Girl] and [In the Name of Revolution], Zhao Wei will still play in a list of plays including [Liu Hu Lan], [Sentinels Under the Neon Lights], [Thunder Storm], [Cuckoo Cuckoo Again], [Sha Jia Bang], and [Li Shuang Shuang].
According to sources, "plays-within-a-story" section will make up an important portion of [A Woman's Epic Poem]. To get it right, the crew invited two senior dramatic play actors from Ma'anshan Drama Troupe to direct the actors in rehearsal.
