Picture: Zhao Wei was almost secretly filmed during yesterday’s press conference
Zhao Wei had on previous occasions, been photographed in events when her underwear was exposed. On those occasions, she had expressed that it “was nothing”. However, when she attended the website launch for movie [Painted Skin], she yelled when she realized that one reporter was trying to photograph uncompromising photos of her. The reporter hurriedly left the event. After the event, Zhao Wei was still in an angry mood, and even got the identity of the reporter from the staff. She commented that she would not entertain questions from this particular reporter in future.
Angry – Yelled at the reporter; wanted to know his identity
Yesterday evening, at the website launch of [Painted Skin] in Beijing, Chen Kun and Zhao Wei were releasing the poster shots of themselves. As Zhao Wei was describing her character, she discovered a bespectacled man dressed in green, kneeling on the floor and trying to film the inside of her dress. Zhao Wei grew angry and yelled at the man, “What do you thinking you are doing?!” As everybody stared at the man, he lowered his head and immediately left the site together with his camera.
Zhao Wei disclosed that this was the first time she saw with her own eyes, reporters whose sole purpose was to try to photograph her in undesirable poses. She also vowed to know the identity of the man. After the press conference, Zhao Weo asked several members of the media if they knew which publication the man belonged to. But it turned out that none of the media present knew. Still, Zhao Wei did not give up, and asked the working staff to find out the identity of the man. “You need to ask around, and let me know his name and the organization he is working for.”
Laughs – Learnt that she could also act as “Xiao Qiao” after [Painted Skin]
Zhao Wei stars as Chen Kun’s wife in [Painted Skin]. She is a gentle character who tried every way within her means to try to stop an evil ghost (Zhou Xun) from seducing her husband. As Zhao Wei’s real-life character is very different, she admitted that she had a hard time trying to enact the role. “My role is someone who tries to fake ignorance, even though she knew what was going on. I felt very oppressed in this role.”
Zhao Wei disclosed that Chen Kun often teased her during filming, resulting in several NG scenes. “He (Chen Kun) kept saying that I have a tomboyish character, and couldn’t believe that I could act so gentle and elegant in this movie!” She was also satisfied that she was able to take the challenge thrown by the director upon her. “After watching this movie, you guys will also realize that I can act the role of ‘Xiao Qiao’ (Chiling Lin’s character in [Red Clif])!”
Shy – Claims that ‘husband’ Chen Kun is very handsome
Zhao Wei admitted that she had fun when asked to comment on her collaboration with university classmate Chen Kun in [Painted Skin]. She praised Chen Kun for his maturity and even teased, “Hmm… how come I didn’t notice that he was that handsome when we were in university?” In the movie, they had a passionate scene. But Zhao Wei felt embarrassed when asked about the passionate scene, and tried to divert the topic by saying that it was not the first time she acted as a wife to Chen Kun. “During university, I acted as a poor wife to his character of a silly boy.”
