[14 Blades], the martial arts blockbuster set to be in theaters on February 4th, came to the ancient city Xi'an yesterday. Director Daniel Lee uttered "(that's) ridiculous" to reports alleging that he had confessed about Zhao Wei's pregnancy.
According to producer An Xiaofen, the ordering status of copies of [14 Blades] is ideal. There has been close to 600 ordered to date, well over that of [Bodyguards and Assassins], the most popular movie in December. Such scale in the issuance of copies has boosted the confidence of the production company in having the box office number surpassing 200 million dollar mark.
[14 Blades] has also achieved great sales performance overseas. According to director Daniel Lee, [14 Blades] will be simultaneously released on a large scale in Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia as it'll be released in Mainland China. The distribution rights for Korea, Thailand, and India have also been sold. The rights for Japan has been bought by Sony, and is set to be released in May. In terms of the European market, apart from having sold the rights for Germany and UK, the distributor plans to attend the European film market of Berlin Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival in North America to continue their marketing efforts for European and North American markets.
When [14 Blades] was been promoted in Chengdu, the local media reported that director Daniel Lee confessed for the first time that Zhao Wei was pregnant. Director Lee responded directly that he had seen the report and felt that it was ridiculous. As for Zhao Wei, he had expressed his position at the premiere in Beijing. As Zhao Wei's friend, he would support her regardless of her decisions, although he still doesn't know whether Zhao Wei is really pregnant. The earlier report alleging that he's waiting for the birth of Zhao Wei's child is a complete fabrication. Daniel Lee emphasized that, "If anyone alleges that Daniel Lee had said it, please show the evidence." Director Lee went on and expressed that he will not make further responses to this matter in the future.
