Revealed while in Shanghai that she was chosen personally by Yan GeLing, Zhao Wei will portray a ”one track-minded” woman this year

Yesterday, Zhao Wei came to Shanghai to attend an endorsement event for a slimming brand. During the media interview, Zhao Wei expressed that her main effort this year is to portray a “one track-minded woman.”

Last year, the academic Zhao Wei who was busy with graduate studies also starred in two movies, [Red Cliff] and [Painted Skin], and released a new album [Angel Suitcase], in which she experienced with directing her own Music Video. Zhao Wei was very enthusiastic when it came to talking about her works. She told the reporter that her primary job this year is to star in Director Xia Gang’s TV series [A Woman's Epic Poem], in which she will portray the leading female role Tian SuFei from 16 years of age to 66 years of age. It is known that [A Woman's Epic Poem] is the works of author Yan GeLing. Zhao Wei was rather pleased to disclose that she was personally chosen for the role by Yan GeLing: “I don’t even know why, maybe she saw the passion in me. A few months earlier, I met with professor Yan. She said that she devoted a lot of emotions and feelings into this character, a lot of which were personal. Even though the character is far away from today’s living, the most important thing about the character is her unrestrained boldness and fire-like passion, which she felt that I can successfully portray.” Zhao Wei believed that Tian SuFei “is a one track-minded woman, whether it was for her career or her love life”, and this was something that mutual between her and the character. Half jokingly, she proclaimed: “so I also thought, apart from me, who can possibly portray the role, ha ha!” According to Zhao Wei, this TV series will begin filming in April.
