At 4PM yeaterday afternoon, as Zhao Wei entered the multifunctional hall in the municipal youth palace to award the Zhao Wei Scholarship and Bursary for the 2007 year, she received a warm welcome from both the recipients of the scholarship and bursary and her fans. The 2007 Zhao Wei Scholarship and Bursary Fund is distributed to students from elementary and secondary schools: 24 academically outstanding students for the scholarship and 81 financially needy students who also excel academically for the bursary. The total amounted to $67,600.

At the ceremony, the leaders from the municipal education bureau expressed their gratitude for Zhao Wei's concerns and contributions to the development and the education system in her hometown. Zhao Wei encouraged all the award recipients to cherish the educational opportunity they have, set goals to become successful, and be well educated so that they can give back to the country and to their hometown. Accompanyed by the leaders from the municipal education bureau, Zhao Wei distributed the scholaships and busaries to the students, and took a picture with the students.

Zhao Wei established the Scholarship and Busary Fund in Wuhu back in 2004. Since then, the Fund has received a lot of support and an increasing number of donations from the public, expanding the scale of the fund and the number of students benefiting from the fund. Up until April 2008, the fund has received donations from 68 groups and individuals. Up until 2007, Zhao Wei Scholarship and Bursary Fund has awarded and helped a total of 368 people, distributing a total fund amount of $226,600. In the few years of existence, most recipients of the Zhao Wei scholarship had been admitted into well-known universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, University of Science and Technology of China, and Renmin University of China.
