Top-notch hairstylist Zhishu (Masahiro Motoki) arrived in Shanghai to work at a gala charity concert. Accompanying him is his long-time lover cum agent Meifan (Naomi Nishida). Zhishu displayed his intricate skills by setting fabulous hairstyles for all the celebrities participating in the concert. The event was a success, but Zhishu was not happy. Although his work has been smooth-sailing, Zhishu is troubled by the rocky relationship with Meifan. In addition, a love rival Hekou (Takashi Tsukamoto) has appeared in the sidelines. Faced with a rival who is relentless in his pursuit of Meifan, Zhishu is even more depressed...
Zhishu wandered aimlessly around the streets of Shanghai, deep in thought over his troubles. Just then, he realized that he had not brought any documents or money; he is accustomed to letting Meifan handle all his affairs. Zhishu could not even remember the hotel name. Hence, he could only continue to walk around, taking in the night view of modern city Shanghai.
At this time, a reckless taxi driver broke into his train of thought. She is Lin Xi (Zhao We), driving a battered-looking taxi. Lin apologized to Zhishu for her driving, and a taxi tour with language difficulties began. Zhishu was grateful to Lin for driving him around; while Lin was secretly counting her money, thinking she had gotten "a big fish"...
Lin Xi received a call from her dream lover Dong Dong (Dylan Guo). He had called Lin to inform her that he'll be getting married the next day. Lin Xi's mood swung drastically, her heart falling into the abyss of sadness. Zhishu saw the change in Lin Xi; although he did not know what happened, he felt as if he was seeing a shadow of himself in Lin Xi.
In the meantime, chaos broke out over Zhishu's disappearance at the concert hall. Meifan, Hekou, Zhishu's assistant and translator Xiao Shen, together with advertising promoter Shangang, dispersed into the city, desperately looking for Zhishu.
Both Zhishu and Lin Xi, who has lost their sweethearts, met in a chance incident, at a chance night in Shanghai. Eventually, they poured out their troubles to one another until their eyes met. A special night that transcended across countries and language began...
